Gonpa Education Teacher Training Begins

A 10-day Teacher Professional Development (TPD) training for teachers teaching in Gonpa schools has begun at the Educational Training Center Dhulikhel from today. The training program was held at 10:30 am under the chief guestship of Mr. Sitaram Koirala, a senior trainer of the same training center. The inaugural session was also attended by Bhikkhu Phupu Chhembe Sherpa, President of the Nepal Buddhist Federation, and Acharya Nurbu Sherpa, President of the Gonpa Monastery Management Council.
After the government of Nepal decided to include the traditional Gonpa schools of religious nature in the mainstream of education, the Curriculum Development Center has developed and implemented the curriculum up to the secondary level (grades 1-10). In addition, the curriculum writing work for higher secondary level grades 11 and 12 has reached the final stage. In order to improve the quality of education provided in Gonpa schools, the Educational Manpower Development Center has been conducting 10-day educational training centers since 2067 BS to enhance the teaching skills and professional competence of teachers teaching in Gonpa.
In the training, which will be conducted in three sessions daily, subject experts will provide training on various subjects such as reading, writing, listening, speaking skills in Bhota language, vocabulary development in Bhota language, creative arts teaching methods, Gonpa education curriculum, etc. Since last Friday, a 10-day professional development training for teachers teaching in monasteries has been being conducted at the Educational Manpower Development Center under the organization of the Educational Manpower Development Center, Dhulikhel.
